City of Afton Designated Historic Site

Built in 1859 by Rev. Simon Putnam, this red house was also used as the Congregational Church parsonage. Putnam taught children in the kitchen before there was a village school building. The home was also used at times for village meetings. Putnam served as a priest during the Civil War and Afton named a street after him.
